Family Violent Restraining Orders

Family Violent Restraining Orders (FVRO) help when you require protection from a person who you are, or were, in a family relationship with. This includes any intimate or family-type relationship whether you be married, de-facto partners, ex-partners or related to each other.

Violent Restraining Orders

Violent Restraining Orders (VRO) help when you require protection from a person who you are not in a family relationship with to be restrained from using personal violence (i.e. assault, kidnapping, threatening or stalking).

If someone is behaving in a way that makes you feel unsafe or concerned, a VRO can stop them from committing these acts of personal violence or exposing a child to personal violence.

Misconduct Restraining Orders

Misconduct Restraining Orders (MRO) help when you require a person who you are not in a family relationship with to be restrained from:

  1. Behaving in a way that could be considered to be intimidating or offensive
  2. Damaging your property
  3. Breaching the peace

If you disobey the terms of a restraining order, there can be serious consequences. So if you are served with a restraining order, we suggest you seek legal advice as soon as possible.
