If you are 10 years old or over, you can currently be held criminally responsible in WA.
The Crimes Legislation Amendment (Age of Criminal Responsibility) Bill 2019 has recently been introduced into Federal Parliament, which seeks to increase the minimum age of criminal responsibility for Commonwealth offences to 14 years.
If followed by all Australian jurisdictions, the amendment to the legislation will help improve justice outcomes for some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.
