During the King’s Birthday Long Weekend, the Western Australian Police will be issuing Double Demerits for the following offences:
- Speeding
- Drink or drug driving
- Failing to wear a seatbelt and child restraint
- Running a red light
- Illegal use of a mobile phone while driving
- Drive a motor vehicle fitted with a device designed to evade detection by a speed camera (14 demerit points)
- Drive a motor vehicle in a manner to evade detection by a speed camera (14 demerit points)
Double demerits will be active from Friday, 22 September to Monday, 25 September 2023 . These measures are in place to encourage safe driving during the long weekend.
